Courtney Banks SpeathCourtney B. Spaeth is one of the nation’s foremost experts in business development and corporate growth. She has widespread experience in both the public and private sectors, having worked in the White House, the Department of Defense, and as an executive in Fortune 100 corporations.

Mrs. Spaeth founded NSAWW in 2007. NSAWW has a proven track record of helping companies achieve growth through business development, and provides transaction advisory services to private equity firms and companies both foreign and domestic. Clients include Lockheed Martin, Verizon, Genesys, Stanley Black and Decker, Zebra Technologies Corporation, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, NTT Data, HIG Capital, SAB Capital, and many other Fortune 500, middle market, and private equity firms in the US and internationally.

Prior to founding NSAWW, Mrs. Spaeth served as Corporate Vice President of Homeland Security for the Raytheon Company, where she developed the company’s homeland security business in North America, the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, and Asia. In less than two years, her efforts resulted in new revenue of over $1 billion USD. Before Raytheon, Mrs. Spaeth served as Director of Homeland Systems Solutions for Lockheed Martin, winning more than $3 billion USD in new business.

In 2000, President Clinton appointed Mrs. Spaeth to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations / Low Intensity Conflict, where she was the Assistant in Charge of Global Terrorism Issues. Mrs. Spaeth also served as the Director of Force Health Protection for the Gulf War Illness Task Force in the Department of Defense, where she was a subject matter expert on combat stress management. In addition, Mrs. Spaeth worked in the Department of Justice’s Criminal Antitrust Division, as well as in the Office of Chief Counsel to the President in the White House.

Mrs. Spaeth is a sought after speaker on a broad range of business and leadership issues. She appears regularly in national and trade media including Business Week, CBS News, the Washington Business Journal, and Smart CEO magazine, and as recently profiled in Women of Influence Magazine. She has been a guest lecturer at York University Schulich International MBA Program in Toronto, Mt. Holyoke College, Sam Houston State University, and George Mason University, as well as on Wall Street and in executive boardrooms. Most recently, she was a guest speaker at M&T Bank’s executive management meeting.

Mrs. Spaeth has extensive experience in emerging technologies and serves on the Board of Directors of Momentum Aviation Group (MAG), as well as on the Board of Advisors for AtmosAir Solutions. She also serves on: the Board of Directors of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., the 2024 Washington Olympics Due Diligence Committee, the ASIS Council for Combating Terrorism, Violence and Political Instability, and the National Board of Advisors for Hope for the Warriors. Mrs. Spaeth recently received the 2014 Angel Outreach Award from the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, an organization of which First Lady Michelle Obama is the Honorary Chair, honoring her commitment to philanthropy. In April of 2014, Mrs. Spaeth was named as one of the finalists for the Executive Leader of the Year by the Fairfax, Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Spaeth was also a Finalist for the 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Winning Women award, and was the 2010 winner of the “Heroines in Technology” Award. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has completed their Director Professionalism course.

Mrs. Spaeth holds a Masters Degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University and a BA, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in the Washington, DC area with her family.
